The island of Jura
The island of Jura faces the island of Islay. Its one and only distillery usually produces a single unpeated malt. This version, called Superstition, will be the ideal whiskey for the aperitif. Slightly marked by smoke, this version breaks the rule because some of the malt has been peated. From a selection of the island's best single malts - some up to 21 years old - Superstition sports a symbol dating from the Egyptian era, synonymous with luck.
Tasting notes:
Dress: Golden yellow.
Nose: Very fresh, the nose is dominated by peat, malted barley and raisins giving a rather charming impression of fruit cake. He evolves later on spices and especially pepper.
Palate: Pretty bold, the palate is marked by Sherry and peat with hints of dark chocolate, menthol and hazelnut.
Finale: The finale returns to the sweetness of barley with notes of candied orange with a hint of salt.
