🥃 Maker’s Mark is a 70cl Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey bottled at 45% vol., and one of the most recognisable bourbons in the world. In 1954, Bill Samuels Sr., heir to one of America’s oldest whisky-making families, decided to break with the traditional family recipe to create a bourbon suited to his time. He replaced rye with wheat in the mashbill, focused on small batch production and chose to bottle when the taste was right rather than according to a fixed age statement.

Maker’s Mark stands out in many ways: the use of “whisky” spelt in the Scottish style, the square-shaped bottle and the famous hand-dipped red wax seal that has become a true design icon. Aged in charred American oak barrels

🛢️ until perfect maturity, it is widely regarded as one of the benchmark Kentucky bourbons.

In the glass, it shows a golden colour with amber highlights. The nose is broad and expressive, with liquorice notes, woody-vanilla character, a lightly burnt edge and a faint rubbery nuance. On the palate, this bourbon is drier than many others in Kentucky, thanks to its 45% ABV and high wheat content, developing with finesse on dried fruits (walnut, raisins), plum and subtle oak. The finish is long, with lingering liquorice and violet notes and a distinctive peach-skin sensation.
