The Deutz Champagne House was founded in Aÿ in 1838 by two Prussians, one of whom was William Deutz. One worked as a wine merchant and the other sold champagne. The two founders were involved in bottling, disgorging, dosage and labelling, even before they owned their own champagne and vineyards. Throughout the 20th century, the founders' heirs gradually mapped out the contours of the vineyard by buying plots in the best terroirs in Champagne. Today, Deutz is owned by the famous Roederer family. The great history of Deutz champagnes is a harmonious blend of virtuosity and refinement.
