Presentation of the wine:

Les Carmes de Rieussec is the second wine of Château de Rieussec. It is made from the young vines that populate the 93 hectares of the estate, on gravel and silt soils. The proportions of the blend also differ, with here 80 to 90% Sémillon and 10 to 20 of both Sauvignon and Muscadelle.
As for the first wine, the vines are carefully monitored to allow the botrytis to give a beautiful noble rot. The harvest is therefore manual and even carried out in several passages, the sorting, to collect, almost grain by grain, the most beautiful fruits. Vinification and aging take place in oak barrels, the second stage lasting around 18 months.
The result is a sweet wine with beautiful substance, powerful, fresh and which opens the door to other bottles from the estate. A bottle for long aging, of course.

In 1661, Pierre des Mesures de Rauzan, a great merchant, acquired the vineyard to which he gave his name. For two centuries, generations of Rauzan succeeded each other and remarkably increased the reputation of the wines of Château Rauzan-Ségla. This Second Grand Cru Classé was reborn in 1994 when Chanel became its owner. Everything is then implemented so that this jewel of the Margaux appellation regains its reputation and rank. Meticulous maintenance of the soil, pruning, manual harvesting, sorting of the grapes are all essential precautions for the exceptional quality of the wines produced. The wines of Château Rauzan-Ségla offer a generous bouquet of skilful finesse that expresses the world-renowned qualities of the Margaux terroir.
