Comment:
Last December, the viticultural union of Saint-Estèphe organized in Bordeaux a great comparative tasting of the 2013 vintages. 37 Châteaux of the appellation (99% of the estate was represented, ranging from unclassified wines to prestigious grands crus) presented their products 2013, with some rather full-bodied vintages, to an audience of restaurateurs, wine merchants and journalists.
The ambition of this tasting was to show that Saint-Estèphe remains, still and always, one of the most qualitative and balanced appellations of the Bordeaux region. An appellation able to provide excellent wines, less than a year after great vintages, like those of 2009 and 2010. The prestigious French specialized magazine, "Terre de vins" (usually dealing with wines from the South of France), was also present and had the opportunity to publish the results of the tasting in his January issue.
A surprising record, in which more modest names do not demerit in the face of great wines. We were naturally delighted to see Château Petit Bocq (a sure value of our range for several years now) to win the silver medal of this prestigious classification.
Le Petit Bocq 2018 surpasses big names such as Haut-Marbuzet, Calon-Ségur, Cos Labory and even Château Montrose. Only the Château Cos d'Estournel gets a better rating. But we are talking about a wine in a higher price range of 120 euros compared to "our" Petit Bocq.
