Owned by the Thienpont family since 1924, the estate is managed by Alexandre Thienpont. It covers 14 hectares in one piece on a gravely clay soil in the center of the very qualitative Plateau de Certan.
The vineyard is distinguished from its neighbors by a high proportion of Cabernets (30% Franc and 10% Sauvignon), which reach a perfect maturity. These give the wine a beautiful tight frame and a great freshness, a unique imprint to Pomerol and a rare aging capacity on the right bank.
Vieux Château Certan produces a second wine, La Gravette de Certan.
