With a name evoking the shape of its vineyard at the end of the appellation, Château La Pointe is one of the rising values ​​of Pomerol. Indeed, the vintage shows a remarkable progression since its acquisition in 2007 by Generali insurance, thanks to a complete restructuring of the vineyard led by its director Eric Monneret.

The latter has built a new vat and especially completely restructured the vineyard based on a complete study of soils and subsoils, carried out by a geologist. Areas of gravels and pebbles similar to the lowlands of the Pomerol high plateau have clearly been identified, as well as gravel-clay areas, on the sidelines of the simple sands which until then had been the terroir of Château La Pointe in the spirit of professionals and amateurs. These sandy soils, depreciated because they easily retain water at the foot of the vines, have benefited from major drainage works; in parallel, their cabernet franc plants were torn off and replanted on the gravel. The vineyard has 23 hectares, of which 85% merlot.

Vinified since 2008 with the advice of Hubert de Boüard, co-owner of the prestigious Château Angélus in Saint-Emilion, the wines of Château La Pointe offer a clear and frank expression of fruit thanks to ripe grapes, with a nice freshness and tannins elegant.
