In the 18th century, Jean-François de Pontet, grand equerry of the king promoted governor of the Medoc, acquired several vineyards on the place called Canet in Pauillac. Thus is born the Château Pontet-Canet. In 1855 he obtained the rank of Grand Cru Classé. For example, Herman Cruse, a great Bordeaux merchant at the time, acquired Château Pontet-Canet 10 years after the classification. He undertakes major renovations and organizes the promotion of his wine abroad. For over a century, the castle remains the property of the family Cruse. Just before the acquisition by Guy Tesseron, a dealer in Cognac in 1975. Today, it is his descendants who lead the field, always with a sense of excellence.
