In 1876, Tsar Alexander II, already a great lover of Louis Roederer's cuvées, asked Louis Roederer to "push the exercise even further" to develop, for his personal use, a unique cuvée by its bottle and its quality. Louis Roederer then proposes to make an exceptional white crystal bottle in which he elaborates the best selection of vines of 7 grands crus of his domain. This cuvée, made only in the "big" years when the maturity of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir allow to reach a subtle balance, is the first prestige cuvée of Champagne. Seductive, precise, gourmet and with a "tapered" freshness and almost "alive", this 2004 Crystal is very modern thanks to its harmony and its immediate seduction but remains, first and foremost, a great classic of Champagne northern, combining freshness, energy and minerality almost chalky. We find the Cristal signature: purity, precision, unique harmony of flavors associated with the subtle power of old vines located on the finest terroirs of Grands Crus Champenois.

Tasting & keeping
Eye: A bright yellow color revealing slight amber shades, associated with an ultra-fine, persistent and melted effervescence.
Nose: Intense and highly expressive bouquet from the first nose! The elegance and aromatic precision of Chardonnay are distinguished: white fruits, sweet pollen, fine citrus and minerality of great purity. After a few minutes, the aromas evolve towards more candied and slightly toasted notes. The bouquet is rich and sweet, almost greedy, while remaining precise and impeccably refined.
Palate: The attack on the palate is full-bodied, creamy and reveals an incredible concentration of juicy fruits: yellow peach, apricot, mango ... This silky and fleshy concentration, both dense and soft, typical of great Pinots noirs, is immediately associated with a fine acidity that gives the wine vivacity and minerality. It reveals an impression of true harmony of flavors and senses, silky textures .... A certain sensuality!
